Margaret Hyde attended East Carolina University graduating with a degree in Interior Design which she practiced until 1998. While working, she studied art in California, obtaining a degree in Fine Art/Drawing. Her art teachers include June Harwood, a member of the West Coast ‘Hard Edge’ Art Movement, who taught the loose, contemporary style of San Francisco Abstract Expressionism. Margaret also attended Mission Renaissance in California whose methods are based on techniques that were taught to master Renaissance painters. Some other influences of her work are Richard Diebenkorn, Helen Frankenthaler and Rex Ray.
Exhibitions include ‘Leap of Faith’ Guggenheim Gallery, Chapman University with the Orange County Visual Artists, Orange Ca. ‘Centered on the Center’ group show Huntington Beach Art Center, Huntington Beach, Ca. Seaside Gallery with the Niguel Artist’s Association, Dana Point, Ca, Farmers and Merchants Bank, Lake Forest, Ca.
The artist currently resides in Atlanta, Ga.
